ATASC Officers Hold Strategic
Planning Workshop
Taking time out of their busy schedules, current officers and three past presidents of
An Taclobanon Association of Southern California (ATASC) recently met in a one-day
strategic planning workshop.

Held at the Doubletree Hotel boardroom in the city of Norwalk, California, the
workskhop covered varied topics leading to the setting of action goals for the service
years 2011 and 2012. Incumbent president Robert “Bobby” Aguilos welcomed the
group to the day’s activities and set the tone for the day’s deliberations.

Among other things, the topic on  Leadership Guidance was extensively discussed by
Mr. Rafael “Raffy” Lagado, followed by a continuing discourse on Parliamentary
Procedure and its unequivocal importance to the organization ably explored by Mr. Eric
Cordeta.  In the afternoon session, past ATASC  president and current vice president
Peter Caludac presented a compelling subject matter for the day: SWOT (Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis that provided all attendees a
broadened perspective and approach to organizational problems and opportunities for
ATASC advancement.  A review of the ATASC Mission, Vision and Values was laid out
by Nonong Agner late in the afternoon. Last but not least, Mr. Edwin Tiu, a founding
member and first elected ATASC president, shared his viewpoints on  ATASC: a
Historical Perspective, where he stated that looking back allows us to get a clear plan
of action and forward-looking view of what lies ahead for ATASC and its members.

At the end of the sessions, the officers laid out in concrete terms the identification,
implementation, logistics and the appropriate committees to put into action projects for
2011 and 2012.

Present during the whole-day officers’ retreat were:  ATASC officers Bobby Aguilos,
Baby Esperas-Cui, Peter Caludac, Tanny Sano, Neil Colinayo, Marla Sabarre, Mae
Delgado, Recto Abellanosa, Dulce Caludac, Sammie Serrano, Yaya Banez-Vergara
and Nonong Agner;

Past ATASC presidents Edwin Tiu, Raffy Lagado and Eric Cordeta served as resource
speakers for the event. It made the day more special having gathered these past
leaders with the current officers in the continuing process of revitalizing the
organization. Active ATASC members Cecile Aguilos and Al Vergara provided as
facilitators of the event. (N. Agner).
